16.5 miles (879 campsite by mono creek to 896)
Today was a killer! We climbed over 5,000 feet today. We thankfully got up and over silver pass before noon. As we descended the sky grew dark and it wasn't long before we heard rumbles. Clay found an awesome cave for us to sit out the storm in. We hunkered down for about a hour and a half as the sky lit up and thunder echoes through the canyon. Then we fell asleep! When the rain stopped we hiked on passing a few lakes and climbing up and down several more hills.
