July 3

7/3
16 miles (932 to 948, glen aulin backcountry campground)
The hiking today came easy. We had a gentle 10 mile descent into Tuolumne meadows along a meandering stream. We hiked quickly as we heard Tuolumne had a grill and a burger was sounding great. We sat in the chaos of a national park on Fourth of July weekend. We ate and got our resupply package, an 8-9 day carry all the way to south Lake Tahoe. Lots of food. I can't close my backpack, I have so much food.
My friend, Ryan, from Cornell is camping at Tuolumne this weekend and arrived while we were there. It's pretty great to be able to see people we know along the way, it was a short visit but great. We hiked on to glen aulin, where there is a backcountry campground complete with a spigot, bear lockers, and a toliet! We have far more food than will fit in our bear can so we figured it'd be good to lock it up, at least for one night.
