5/30
19 miles (573 to 592)
Today was a scorcher. We packed up fast and headed out early knowing it was going to be hot. This stretch of the pct is the driest and our first water carry was 17 miles, the next 19. We got to the spring before 11, filtered and filled up. We hiked to the first flat, shady, ant free zone we found and settled in to wait out the heat. We read and ate and tried not to drink all our water and headed out around 4. It was still very hot but not for long, the sun went down and the breeze picked up.  We cowboy camped within view of another wind farm.
