6/10
12 miles (730 to 742)
More storms! We woke up in a wet tent. It rained a bit throughout the night and we woke up looking at water droplets. When we finally peeked outside we saw wonderful blue sky. We spread all our belongings out in the sun while we filtered water and ate breakfast. By the time everything was dry and packed up it was 9 and thunderheads were already building.
We were feeling good this morning. We put in 11 miles by 1, with plenty of elevation gain. We stopped for lunch and water, thunder boomed, it began to hail. It didn't stop until after four, by then we were getting warmed up in our dry tent and sleeping bag. We tried to wait it out, but it got cold. The warm day turned cold fast with the storm, we are up around 10,000 feet and they come in quick. We hiked a bit but the trail had turned into an icy stream and we were soaked. It didn't take much of that before we decided to cut the day super short and set up camp.
Hoping for blue skies tomorrow.
