August 7

August 7
18 miles
(1651 to 1679, little tiny spot on a mountain side)
We hiked into Seiad valley, a town with one building holding the post office, store, and cafe and RV park. That is all a hiker needs and apparently all the people of Seiad valley need. We got up at 4:30 and made the 12 miles to town by 10.  We sat in the cafe, really a diner, and ate delicious and filling breakfasts. We were laughing and talking and so happy. Food is a wonderful thing. Then, as planned, we walked next door to the RV park for laundry and showers. This is the first time we have done our laundry since truckee, almost a month ago. Considering I have one set of clothes I wear every day, this is disgusting. We felt like new people. We went through or resupply box, dug through the hiker box for food we aren't sick of and sat. It was pretty relaxing. We headed  back out in the trail, into the smoke for a giant climb up out of the valley. 29 miles to Oregon!

Clay is very proud to have 1300 miles on his shoes
