July 23

7/23
24 miles (1272 to 1296 along chips creek)
We got up fairly early and boogied. We left camp at 7 and made it 17 miles to Belden by 2. We had tons of downhill, down into a river canyon carved by the surprisingly large Feather River. Belden was weird, not a town, it is self described as Belden Town Resort. It reminded me of the campgrounds people park their RVs at and never leave. There was a restaurant with a deck along side the river where we are burgers and sorted our resupply packages. We bought a few snacks at the tiny store and were on our way. Since we dropped way down into the canyon we knew we would have a big climb out of it. The steep terrain and hot sun temporarily made me regret the heavy burger sitting in my stomach. We made camp and hid from the Mosquitos eating Salami and crackers in our tent for dinner.
